The Washing Machine Post...

In October I went to The Cycle Show at Earls Court, walking around on my lonesome I was overwelmed by the amount of amazing bikes/brands and people that make the industry what it is. My aim was to find the guys at Mosquito Bikes and drool slightly over thier range of bikes from American custom builders Idependent Fabrication. While I was there I met Brian Palmer who writes The Washing Machine Post. Brian had written a really great review of my work in Rouleur #14 and so I thought I would say 'Hello'and 'Thank You' for the kind words. After chatting with Brian he mentioned he would love to interview me about what makes me tick as an illustrator and my love of cycling, after picking myself off the floor at the thought of someone actually wanting to interview me I set about answering the questions... So why not click the link and give it a read...

The Trivial Pursuit Experiment....

I worked with BAFTA nominated Flash giants Plug In Media and London based agency Tribal DDB on this battle of the sexes game for board game Trivial Pursuit. I was given assets created by designer Tony Cianci at Tribal DDB and re-created them in Flash whilst also creating a lot of animation you see during the game, especially that between the male and female characters. Click ME to head over to the site and play along...

ProCasts mindOnline demos with Macmillan Publishing...

I have been working with ProCasts again recently and we just completed a large chunk of work with Macmillan Publishing, creating demo videos that explain their new mindOnline language-learning product for teachers and students. Working directly with Macmillan's product lead and script writer to create four screencasts from 2 minutes to 5 minutes that show various aspects of their product. You can watch all the videos here (above) or head over to the MindOnline site and watch them there...

Rouleur#14 - Eddy Merckx The Greatest Show On Earth

A couple of months back, I was approached by the magazine Rouleur to create an illustrated comic strip style version of the film 'The Greatest Show on Earth' which follows the 1974 Giro or Tour of Italy in an epic battle between Eddy Merckx, Jose Manuel Fuente and the then world champion Felici Gimondi. Below are some of the panels from the final piece. If you want to see the full eleven pages go out and buy Rouleur now...

Spotify A Free Music Revolution...

It seems every man and his dog is talking about Spotify at the moment, and this Procast was my first real venture into the world of screencasting. It talks about how to use the free music app and how to get the best out of it, enjoy...

Mock Up Screens...

Mock Up Screens allows people to rapidly demonstrate ideas and prototypes for UI's... It means that if I want to create a web site for a client and need to show them how it's going to look I can drag the bits and bobs into the right place and we can both create a web site they want quickly and easily... nifty. Procasts took the idea of 'a day in the life of your piece of software' and ran with it. Creating a Procast with two characters using Mock Up Screens to get the most out of the tool... And as promised, I make my V/O debut... quality, Ian has also written some more info on Mock Up Screens HERE...

EC Merge...

EC Merge is a comparison tool. That's the best way I know of describing what is a really cool piece of kit. This was my first full Procasting challenge and was completed by me using CamTasia and Adobe Premeire, Ian has done the V/O but keep your eyes peeled; as I make my V/O debut pretty soon... Check out Ian's post for more EC Merge info HERE

Crunch...

Crunch is a really clever way of dealing with the thing all freelance types dread, the year end tax return (shudder...) and VAT returns (yawn) it can save you money (huzaaah) whilst being easy to use and super safe (Woop.) Procasts have just finished this screencast for them, take a look and all will be explained. By using 'a day in the life of' as the theme for the cast we managed to keep it up beat, fun and engaging, but importantly informative.

Orchestrate

I have just finished working with screencast production company Procasts on this project for Orchestrate, which is a Labour Scheduling Software. The Dungeon Of Gunge'n...

This is a game idea I recently animated after some recent down time. It is based in a spooky dungeon, the players have to click the baloons full of gunge as quickly as they can to fill their oponents gunge tank. The first one to fill the tank wins and gets to gunge the oposition. Slime tastic...

Adblock Plus

As mentioned below, i have started working with ProCasts and this is the first project we worked together on. The video explains the ins and outs of using Adblock Plus, which is a really clever piece of free software you add on to Firefox. It takes away ALL of the adverts from any web page; clever stuff. If you hate pop up's, banners and all that jazz install it now... (there is more info about the project on Ian's Blog)

Plug In Pigeon Pitch...

I worked with the people of Plug In Media on a pitch for the Olympic 2012 mascot. It was very exciting to work on such a high profile pitch, and a great chance to do some propper character animation. This pigeon was part of said pitch, designed by Creative Director Dom Minns...

ProCasts...

A couple of weeks back a good friend of mine Niqui Merret introduced me to fellow Brightonian Ian Ozsvald. Ian was on the look out for a creative to join his growing project ProCasts and to come on board to help grow the ProCasts brand by adding animation and graphical branding to current and future screencast projects he was working on. Having never worked with screencast technology, but understanding their growing popularity amongst the tech/software industry I jumped at the chance. Since that meeting a couple of weeks ago we have worked on more and more things, and i will post them on the blog once they are live. Watch this space...

Eddy Merckx, Action Script and other fun...

20/02/09 - I created this banner ad using some of the Eddy animation, as i realised i had not posted one on the blog, give it a click and check out bikeradar.com 16/02/09 - This is the first movement test for Eddy, hit play and watch him go... Here is the first image of a project i am doing for myself to learn more about Action Script and code in general. It is based around Eddy Merckxs' hour record set in Mexico city in 1972. Merckx used this simple steel framed single speed machine and travelled 49.431km in the hour. Hopefully next time you come back I will have more for you to check out, click on and play with. As always any comments are more than welcome...
